For forty years, the Village Zendo has been a place of practice, friendship, inquiry, and refuge for countless people from all walks of life.
What began as a small group of practitioners sitting together in the apartment of Enkyo Roshi and Joshin Roshi gradually grew into the vibrant, ever-evolving sangha we know today.
This video offers a glimpse into that living history: the people, places, and spirit that have carried the Village Zendo across four decades of practice in New York City and beyond.
With deep gratitude to everyone who has helped sustain this community over the years, we celebrate this milestone together—and look forward to continuing the practice for generations to come.
