Yugetsu poses the question: In a time of uncertainty and upheaval, what does it mean to truly meet oneself? Drawing on the teachings of Dogen, and the story of Dongshan's departure from his teacher Yunyan, and subsequent awakening, Yugetsu weaves together personal memory, lineage, and lived experience. Through reflections on an archival dharma talk given by Roshi Enkyo O'Hara 26 years ago, Yugetsu explores how practice reveals the interpenetration of self and world—where past and present, teacher and student, departure and return all meet. In the spirit of “just this,” the talk invites us to encounter our lives directly, exactly as they are.
