Mukei became involved with The Village Zendo in 2007. He received Jukei in 2011 and was ordain a priest in 2022. Also, in 2022 he became a Senior Student. Mukei leads the People of Color Sitting Group and serves on the Board of Zen Peacemakers International, leading Bearing Witness Retreats to Racism. He assists as a Buddhist Chaplain at Sing, Sing Correctional Facility.
Mukei is a psychoanalyst / psychotherapist in private practice.
In July of 2026, he was empowered as Hoshi (Dharma Holder) and Osho.
