Workshop “The Voice of Zen’s Female Ancestors”

Workshop leaders:
Myoan Grace Schireson Roshi and Melissa Collom, Opera Singer and Voice Coach

This workshop will begin with the stories of our historical Zen ancestors and their unique teachings by Myoan Roshi from her book Zen Women: Beyond Tea Ladies, Iron Maidens and Macho Masters, and it will conclude with the attendees being coached to present their own Dharma in their own words. The first discussions will include the accomplishments of historical Zen women, their particular teachings and their appeal for today’s practitioners. The workshop will wrap-up with Melissa Collom teaching participants how to project presence and authority, how to start and finish with strength, and how to unlock the power of their own Dharma words.
