Judy Clark and Release Aging People in Prison

After many years of hard work by several sangha members to educate and organize us, most of the Village Zendo community is now deeply familiar with the name Judy Clark, and with the ways our criminal legal system locked her up for a virtual life sentence, with no chance at redemption. We have rallied, joined vigils outside the Governor’s mansion, and written hundreds of letters to the Parole Board demanding her release. On December 14th, we are honored to welcome Judy Clark to join us in person at the Village Zendo.

Judy will be accompanied by members of RAPP (Release Aging People in Prison), and together they will speak to the sangha about parole justice. Sharing with our community about their experiences with the Parole Board, they will help us all to understand how decades of sentencing human beings to “death by incarceration” has created a crisis across the country, with more than 10,000 people aged 50 and above in New York’s prison system alone!

Come join us on Saturday, December 14th from 3-5pm for an inspiring conversation with Judy, and to learn about the incredible work RAPP is doing right here in New York to end mass incarceration by freeing our elders.
