Jo An Sensei shares the koan "Body Exposed in the Golden Wind" as an invitation to examine what becomes visible when the identities, judgments, and stories we cling to begin to fall away. He reflects on suffering and the causes and conditions that give rise to hatred. He explores how Zen practice can help us see beyond the categories we impose on ourselves and others, opening the possibility for greater compassion and understanding. As the autumn leaves fall, we are invited to recognize that we are already exposed to one another, continually shaping the conditions from which our shared future emerges.
