In this talk, senior student Kenkō offers some poets' encouragement for deep practice on retreat or in our lives: To know the dark, go dark. To meet ourselves as the embodiment of generations of nobility, temporarily fallen into poverty. To lower our eyes in Zazen, and to turn the light inwards, so that once we rise up again, we may see the world with fresh eyes, facing with a clear heart the work of the moment.
