We invite you to participate in Village Zendo’s first online zazenkai, a virtual day long retreat which will include 5 periods of zazen, a service, and a dharma talk.
Registration is not required but we ask that you make a payment of any amount you can afford. Our recommendation is for our regular fee of $30 for members, $50 for non-members. Payment can be made through our donations link, with a notation that it is for zazenkai participation.
To help make your day of meditation as simple and peaceful as possible, you may find the following recommendations useful, some of which are provided by the Mountain Cloud Zen Center in New Mexico:
Review the Village Zendo’s guidelines for online sitting: https://villagezendo.org/
Lighting a candle or incense can help establish the sensory environment and the intention of the space for sitting.
Establish a comfortable space where you can stretch.
Plan your lunch ahead of time to avoid having to make decisions once the retreat begins. Better yet, have it ready to eat.
Have whatever cushions and blankets you may need close at hand so you can remain focused and not need to go looking for things.
Turn off your phone and put it in a different room. Determine ahead of time if there is a reason you need to check it and when you will do that.
