Zen koans are dramatic dialogues that point to fundamental teachings about the nature of reality. Koan study is a vital aspect of Zen practice.
This year’s class will be team-taught by Roshi Enkyo O’Hara and Sensei Joshin O’Hara. Our intent will be to use the koan as a mirror of our life, and attempt to convey in words what we’ve glimpsed each month while working with the koan.
We will meet once a month on a Sunday 1:30pm to 4pm and use the time to engage in interactive exercises with other class members and class discussion.
This class will be an opportunity to expand your knowledge of Zen, deepen your ties to the VZ sangha/community of practitioners and increase your own compassion for yourself and others.
