Please join the Village Zendo for a Zen celebration of April Fools Day with Sangha member Ben Sen Dan Foley.

Ben Sen and company will perform scenes from his Off-off Broadway play “Don’t Stop the Train, We’re Getting On” and possibly a visualization poem with a drum called “You have Permission.”

Ben Sen will be joined by Doug Manes and Kelly Haran.

Doug Manes is an actor, musician, and contract singer who has played Carnegie Hall. He is a practitioner in the Five Rhythms Dance Meditation Tribe. Kelly Haran was trained and worked at Second City in her hometown of Chicago.

Direction is by Gene Santarelli, a Shakespearean at heart with many years experience, who helped found Artistic New Directions and runs their “Anything Goes” program on Wednesday nights.

Those coming are invited to wear something that expresses the “fool in them,” or not—as you wish!

Ben Sen Dan Foley has performed poetry and theater in his own unique style throughout New York City for many years. He has created and starred in “An Evening With Dan Foley” at the St. Mark’s Church. Last year, he performed in a one act original play with the Artistic New Directions theater company. He has also performed improv around the country with that group. Ben Sen is a long time Zen practitioner who studied with Edo Shimano, the head of the Zen Studies Society in 1968, and practiced with him for over twenty years. He has been a member of the Village Zendo since 2007. Ben Sen has shared his charm and wit at many of our Village Zendo Poetry readings.
