Village Zendo Membership

After practicing with us for a while, some people develop a deep sense of belonging to the Village Zendo community. This is the time to consider becoming a member of the Village Zendo. Members provide regular financial support to the community and donate their time to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the zendo. Their donations make it possible for the Village Zendo to survive and continue its mission.

The Village Zendo offers three levels of membership:

Student Membership is for those who wish to engage in the formal study of Zen Buddhism under the supervision of Enkyo Roshi O’Hara. Student Members commit themselves to the regular financial support of both the Village Zendo and the teacher as well as to donating their time to the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. Student members also begin formal study of the dharma, which includes regular interviews with the teacher, participation in seasonal training intensives, and attendance at retreats. more info…

Student Membership Donation: $108 monthly or $1,296 a year.

Associate Members are those who feel a sense of connection to the Village Zendo community but live at some distance from New York City . Associate Members receive the Zendo newsletter and invitations to major Zendo events and gatherings.

Non-Member Sometimes, it takes time to make the decision to become a member. If you wish to attend the Village Zendo to familiarize yourself with our practice and community, we suggest a minimum donation of $5 per visit to be placed in the bowl at the temple entrance. Your contribution is important in helping us maintain this space and the opportunity to practice.
