As with so many things in life, one acts with a certain concept, but ends up creating something that barely resembles the original intention. This characterizes the way my work evolves. I start with an idea or vision, get into the work and find things that just happen, like the inevitable accidents, and work with them. It's a process that mirrors zazen and how one works with the thoughts and sensations that arise while sitting. The final artwork is an expression of our day to day experience of duality—inner thoughts/emotions and outer external/physical world of appearances.
