My fabrics are relatively simple in design. They are mostly about the materials. I studied textile design in Sweden, and my approach to this collection was very Scandinavian. I use simple structures and let the materials dictate the design and structure of the fabric. My fabrics are a confluence of structure and materials.
I use all types of materials, natural, man made, even plastic tubing. The 4th photo is of a fabric called Gulf Stream. It is a blend of plastic tubing, mohair, cotton and a yarn made with spun rice paper. It is one of my proudest achievements.
I suppose the exploration of structure letting the materials speak for themselves is pretty Zen-like in principle. Though I guess using ostrich feathers could hardly be considered doing no harm...
