Urban Sesshin takes place at the Village Zendo in New York City, and features three days of meditation, study and discussion, a full-day meditation retreat (Zazenkai);  and a final morning of celebration. Each year our chosen “Shuso” (practice leader) creates the program for Urban Sesshin. This year it will be led by Musho Rodney Alan Greenblat whose long career as a visual artist, writer and musician will inform our study direction.

This year’s theme will be The Three Treasures. Through drawing, storytelling, music and meditation, we will explore and embody the traditional Buddhist triple treasure: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. We will see and experience how they can be expressed in many ways, reflect each other, are inseparable, and through our Zen eye see our very lives as the Three Treasures coming together as one.
